Talk to Professors Before Buying Books

College text booksIf you have the details for your upcoming semester and it lets you know who your teachers will be, it could be of great benefit to you to talk to them before you buy your books.

In almost half of the classes where I am, I was told that I didn’t need something that I had already purchased. In one class, I was told that the book I had bought was going to be the last year that they used that text book, and that it would have been smarter for me to get a used copy of last years edition, which included very little changes, and would have saved me about forty percent of the cover cost.

In another class I was told that we weren’t going to reference the textbook at all, and instead would be using the package that the professor had put together along with slides that we could get off the student website.

It can be very frustrating to spend money that you didn’t need to spend, and so checking in with your teachers first is the best way to avoid that.
