Chemical Plant Manager
Chemical plant managers are responsible for directing and planning all activities of the facility. The plant managers must ensure that a quality product is produced, while insuring that the plant is adhering to all safety guidelines set out by OSHA.
In most cases, a Bachelor’s Degree is required in order to gain employment in this field. In addition to the Bachelor’s Degree some plants seek job candidates holding graduate degrees in fields such as business and management.
The typical duties a chemical plant manager will be expected to fulfill are: managing production, budgeting, controlling expenses, and monitoring work conditions to make sure the facility is operating under safe conditions.
As manufacturing jobs continue to decline, so does the outlook for chemical plant manager positions. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics agrees with this trend, and sees a steady decline in these positions over the coming year.
The annual expected salary for a chemical plant manager with a Bachelor’s Degree is $59,000. For those only holding a diploma, expect a salary starting in the mid $30,000 range.
