Film Director
A film director can expect an approximate salary starting from $15,000 to $1,00,000+ depending on his or her experience and the type plus budget of the movie they are directing. The say of the film director is final on most decisions during the production of a film and this means right from scratch to the final editing stage. They have to select a proper script suitable for production, re-write it if so required so that they meet the movie’s goal.
The film director has a huge part as far as selection of the cast is concerned along with selection of the crew that will be working during the production of a film and this includes selecting the associate director and the music director too. He or she has to make these selections in a timely manner yet see that they are not rushed into, otherwise the project’s tone will get spoiled. Apart from this, the film director also determines where and when the shots will be taken, approving suitable art to be used during the course of production and this includes costumes, lighting, music and set design.
While there is no education criterion as such, there are a number of film schools that provide training and master’s degree certification in film direction, but most directors have worked their way up the ladder, some even starting off as studio help. There are no fixed working hours and locations and the film director has to be present wherever the shooting of a film takes place.
