Television Production Manager
The television production manager is an important person in any television production company. They are responsible for all the technical operational aspects of the project. One of their duties is to supervise and schedule the production staff and manage the budget. They report to the executive producer.
They are also be responsible for the hiring, promotion, evaluation and termination of production staff or can make recommendations to that effect. Not only that, the television production manager supervises all production activities for the television station, which include the studio and remote site productions. That also includes scheduling personnel and equipment.
One must have the knowledge of broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and production standards. He or she must also have supervisory skills and principles. And lastly, the perfect candidate must have perfect communication skills.
A television production manager’s salary would depend on what television production company they are involved with and which production company you’re employed at. The television production manager’s pay will most likely be less than the producer, director, and sometimes even the camera person, but their pay is still good compared to the average income wages in the United States.
To be able to apply for a television production manager, a bachelor’s degree in radio or television or any related field would be required. Some companies would require the applicant to also have experience working for a television company before accepting them for the position. Some television companies offer internship programs for people interested to begin a career in the business.
