Computer Office Technician
The main tasks of a Computer Office Technician is to ensure that office computers are functioning well and that computers are fixed as quickly as possible to allow continuation of office work.
Responsibilities
Computer office technicians are responsible in troubleshooting computer problems, resolving software and hardware compatibility issues and guiding employees in understanding some programs or applications. They can also conduct workshops or program-specific training sessions for the office workers. Technicians work on single computer’s problems and not on large-scale network or system flaws.
Required Education
Job requirements may vary from for different employers, but they do require technicians to have a college degree in the computer field or a certain level of working experience in IT support. Employers would highly prefer technicians that have certifications relevant to the most recent operating systems, troubleshooting procedures and computer hardware. The following are some of the expected skills that computer office technicians must possess:
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Experience in supporting Windows and/or UNIX operating systems
- Experience in resolving hardware and software compatibility issues
