The main tasks of a Corporate Auditor are to ensure the company’s business processes are operating efficiently, public records are intact and taxes are paid regularly.
Responsibilities
Corporate auditors are responsible for a firm’s tax, auditing, accounting and consulting activities. They ensure the integrity of an organization’s internal controls and the accounting systems free from mismanagement or fraud. They assess and scrutinize their firm’s management procedures, financial and information systems and internal records to ensure accuracy and adequacy. They oversee operations from time to time to make sure government rules and corporate policies are being complied. Auditors also communicate audit results and financial data to the management and the company’s clients.
Required Education
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is usually required from corporate auditor applicants. Some positions require the person to have a master’s degree in accounting or master’s degree in business administration major in accounting. The following certifications are also required from higher auditor positions:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
