A Hospitality Administrator primarily handles the overall tourist image of a certain hotel or resort. He or she should properly manage the entire operations of the establishment and make improvements according to the needs of the customers, which are mostly tourists. Their goal is to attract more tourists and ensure a satisfying experience for them, in hopes that they will drag other tourists along next time.

A hospitality administrator manages the operations of all areas of the hotel, the restaurant, bars, swimming pools and other facilities. He or she must make sure that all these areas are running smoothly. In addition to that, a hospitality administrator must make sure that food and beverage needs are taken care of, and the right ambiance is maintained.

Salary Information

In the first year, a hospitality administrator may earn up to $31,141 per year. This median annual salary may reach up to $42,320 for those who have more experience. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment rate of this career will grow as fast as the national average for all other jobs up to year 2016.

Job Requirements

Employers usually require that applicants should have at least an undergraduate degree in hotel management. Others even prefer applicants that have advanced degrees in addition to their undergraduate degree. Hospitality administrators should have very good verbal and written communication skills to become very good managers. Mathematical skills and computer literacy is also required for hospitality administrators. Moreover, they should possess strong interpersonal skills to be able to interact with different types of people and fulfill their needs throughout each day.
