Flash Animator
Flash animators work with computer programs, such as Adobe Flash, that are capable of producing .swf files to create flash based cartoons and illustrations for projects, marketing campaigns, or websites. Animators are able to produce high quality products using simple designs at a moderately low cost. He or she often works for or with graphic designers, entertainment firms, web hosting companies, or marketing firms and is in charge of creating flash animations that are unique and suitable for that specific company’s needs.
The responsibilities of a flash animator vary, and may be unique to each particular company. The most common duties include: developing functional prototypes; collaborating with art directors, application engineers, and developers; testing websites; designing banners; creating multimedia applications; designing overall animation for websites; and creating graphics for presentation based projects. He or she may also be required to test or improve front-end flash applications, create interactive sites, design specific web components, and/or integrate web pages and advertisements. Flash animators are responsible for revising and updating programs, as well as keeping proper records for software and license agreements.
Entry-level flash animators are typically required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, computer graphics, or other related degree. An Associate’s degree in a similar design field may be acceptable with adequate work experience. A wide range of technical knowledge and skills, computer software skills, and computer programming experience is also preferred.
