The main task of a Computer Administrator is to design and provide support to an organization’s computer systems, which includes the network systems.
Responsibilities
Computer administrators are responsible in designing, installing and supporting a company’s computer systems. They troubleshoot and maintain both local and wide area networks. They maintain the network’s hardware and software and monitor them to ensure efficiency and availability. It is also their job to suggest when the system already needs an upgrade. They also ensure that the company’s network needs are being met.
Required Education
Computer administrators that hold a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology or related field have a higher chance of being hired. It has also been found that relevant work experience and certifications can substitute a college degree.

- Advanced knowledge of UNIX and/or Windows environments
