Getting a Job

A large part of the process of getting a job is just showing up. Many of the jobs I have been able to get were largely because I showed passion and contacted companies where I knew I could both work well for them, and enjoy.

Before you leave this page thinking that I am just lucky, think about this: how can you get the job you want if you never apply for it?

I have so many friends that wanted amazing jobs, but they didn’t feel confident enough or qualified enough to get them, and I asked them over and over, “if not you, then who?”

If you are passionate about a position, there are far worse choices a company can make than hiring you.

Find a way to let you passion be known, and if they reject you, don’t take it personally. Ask them what you could have done to secure the position. Sometimes they will lie and give you an answer that isn’t helpful, but here and there, you will get insights that will help you when the next opening is created.

Create goals, and as obstacles get in your way, remove them one at a time, until you’ve reached your goal, and don’t be afraid to aim high.
