Dental Hygienist
A Dental Hygienist performs routine works during dental procedures.
The Dental Hygienist assists the Dentist in the general hygiene of the teeth. Specifically, he or she is responsible for removing the hard and soft plaque and other obstructions in the oral perimeter of the patient’s mouth that would interfere with any following dental procedure. He or she is also responsible in undertaking practical hygiene and hygiene education for patients as well.
In the practical hygiene part, the Dental Hygienist can also be tasked with administering specified amounts of anesthesia under the Dentist’s prescriptions. The Dental Hygienist also does some tooth filling work and is responsible for periodontal dressings as instructed by the Dentist.
The Dental Hygienist is also responsible in monitoring the patient’s medical histories and regimens on oral hygiene in particular. He or she relays readings and reviews on treatments for patients along side with laboratory results.

The average salary varies depending on the employer’s location and practice size. It can usually range from between $40,000 to $80,000 per year.
Required Education
Most companies require their Dental Hygienist to have at least finished a two year Associate Degree in the Dental Hygiene Program from an accredited Dental institution or school.
