A Child Psychiatrist or Pediatric Psychiatrist is a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental and emotional constraints revolving around children. A Child Psychiatrist is mainly involved in treating mental and emotional disorders challenging a child. A Child Psychiatrist hugely differs from a Child Psychologist though these two professions closely are related. A Psychologist is not a doctor and deals with just counseling strategies to be applied on a troubled child. On the other hand, a Child Psychiatrist can also do counseling and give medications to children involved in mental or emotional diseases, which a Psychologist is not entitled to do.

Required Education

A Child Psychiatrist must have gained a Doctorate Degree, having medical course prerequisites. They must have a Bachelor’s degree on their preliminary medical course and pursuing a professional doctorate degree in a medical school. He or she must have passed a licensure Board Examinations for General Practitioners and have specialized further in the field of Psychiatry.
