Overview
For students interested in aviation, aerospace engineering gives you the skills to design and develop solutions for air travel, space travel and make technical improvements to vehicles generally. Most commonly, students will find their skills in direct demand from technology firms in the transportation and defense industries, with a particular focus on missile and space propulsion technology. A number of government agencies, including NASA, also actively recruit mechanical engineers. Students will also likely receive offers from business firms who are seeking their expertise, as well as research labs and quantitative consulting firms.
Salary Expectations
As a product of high competition, starting salaries are near $50,000, while more experienced engineering earn upwards of $80,000 depending on their skill set and certifications, along with further education.
