Education is one business that doesn’t seem to be progressing as fast as I would like. By now, I thought we would all have everything we needed to know just imprinted on our brains, sort of like in the movie The Matrix, where they just download what you need to know right into your brain, but I guess that’s what happens when you are a geek.

The biggest shifts have been in how information is presented as many schools start pushing out more and more multimedia content. A school being built in my area won’t have any traditional blackboards, instead including a large screen attached to a projector that is connected to a tablet computer that the teacher can write on, show web pages on, as well as show the whole class videos related to the topics at hand. This allows the teacher, using special software to demonstrate physics simulations on the fly, provide example material from numerous sources, and make learning more visually interesting and hopefully more entertaining.

With this shift also comes a ballooning industry based on providing all ages with courses online where you can quickly, and from the comfort of your home earn a degree in nearly any subject.

Computerized learning is more important than ever before, and where it was just another resource like the books in the library, now it is essential as it works to replace the text book and the notebook of every student attending school today.

If you find it difficult to learn from a computer, you might find yourself increasingly obsolete, and so increasing your technical knowledge with regards to computer hardware, software, and the Internet is essential. It is quickly coming down to the simple truth that if you can’t search the web, you won’t be able to find the answers you need.
