Get started with a degree

Being a travel agent is a great way of seeing the world and getting to interact with a wide variety of people. People who love customer service, travel, and adventure should consider a career as travel agents.

Most travel agencies require that travel agents have a degree in business or liberal arts and/or have professional experience applicable.

Degrees in Hospitality and Tourism Management

Personally, I would also recommend getting a degree in linguistics as a minor, or learning a second language. It is very useful when working in a travel agency because you often have to deal with foreign hotels, and businesses.

Being a travel agent has many added bonuses including travel to exotic places around the world often at discounted rates. Travel agents who work for large firms are often encouraged to travel to interesting new places each year so they can relate with customers who use their services.
