Jacksonville University
Jacksonville University (JU) is located in Jacksonville, FL on 198 acres of land along the banks of the St. John’s River. It was established in 1934 as William J. Porter University. It became Jacksonville Junior College in 1935 and finally, Jacksonville University in 1956. Jacksonville University ranks among America’s Best Colleges for master’s universities in the South. It offers over numerous, diverse majors and programs; its more popular programs include nursing, dance, marine and NROTC (Naval Reserve Officer Training Course) programs.
Jacksonville University offers 71 Undergraduate majors including Computer Art and Design and Pre-professional studies (for undergraduates); four graduate degrees including Master of Arts in Mathematics, Master of Business Administration (for graduate study), and Certificate Programs in Business, Education and Orthodontics. All programs are taught under JU’s three colleges, which are the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Fine Arts, and the Davis School of Business. The School of Business has three schools, which are the School of Education, School of Nursing and School of Orthodontics. Jacksonville University also prides itself on its unique aeronautics program. which is administered in cooperation with the Delta Connection Academy, operated by Delta Airlines.
Jacksonville University is launching a Marine Science Science Research Institute along the nearby St. John’s River. The School of Nursing also has an online program that offers the opportunity for Registered Nurses to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Courses last eight weeks, enabling students to complete their degrees in as little as two years.
The average class size at Jacksonville University is 18, with a 14:1 student-teacher ratio. Tuition fees for full-time undergraduate students come up to an average of $23,900 annually, or $410 per credit hour for the online courses.
