Troy Montgomery

Troy University at Montgomery is part of a large network of over sixty public institutions of the same name, including three others in Alabama located in Troy, Dothan and Phoenix City, the latter being a branch of the main campus. Troy’s Montgomery campus originally began as part of Troy’s relationship with the military. It was created at Maxwell Air Force Base near Montgomery in the 1950s, as an extension of the main campus. Finally, in 1982, both Troy Montgomery and Troy Dothan became independent institutions. Today, Troy Montgomery is home to approximately 4,300 graduate and undergraduate students.

Troy Montgomery offers a multitude of degrees at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The University is home to three academic divisions that educate students interested in a number of different majors. The College of Arts and Sciences offers courses relating to the computer sciences, history and the social sciences, mathematics and physics, English and science. The business division provides six bachelor’s degrees, three master’s degrees and one associate’s degree. The College of Education offers two graduate programs and an undergraduate program in psychology. Troy Montgomery is home to both Army and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs.

All members of the Troy University network are accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. SACS provides accreditation to institutions within an eleven-state area, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
