Troy University at Dothan
Troy University at Dothan is part of a large network of over sixty public institutions of the same name, including three others in Alabama located in Troy, Montgomery and Phoenix City, the latter being a branch of the main campus. Troy’s Dothan campus originally arose from Troy University’s relationship with the military. It was created at Fort Rucker, close to Dothan, in the 1950s as part of the main campus. Finally, in 1982, both Troy Montgomery and Troy Dothan became independent institutions. Today, Troy Dothan is home to approximately 1,900 graduate and undergraduate students.
Academic programs at Troy Dothan are offered by three divisions at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Undergraduate degrees include biology, chemistry, criminal justice, English, geography, management, marketing, psychology and sociology, among countless others. Graduate programs are also numerous, with the majority of them focused on education and counseling. Other graduate programs offer master’s degrees in international relations, business administration and human resource management. An Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program will launch at Troy Dothan in Fall 2009.
All members of the Troy University network are accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
