United States Sports Academy

Established in 1972, the United States Sports Academy is a one-of-a-kind institution located in Daphne, Alabama, just outside of Mobile. Formed from the desire of collegiate athletic directors to improve the United States’ performance in professional sports, the institution is dedicated solely to graduate studies in the area of athletics. The academy, as of 2007, has over 500 students enrolled, the majority of them part-time or online, and fourteen full-time faculty members. The Academy has a long-standing relationship with the Kingdom of Bahrain, providing a Certification in Sports Management to its government’s Sports Ministry.

USSA offers bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees in sports science, as well as a doctorate program in sports management. The vast majority of USSA students are studying at the graduate level. Courses may be completed online, and semester-hour requirements are generally low. A Distance Learning program allows both students and instructors to interact at USSA no matter what their location.

United States Sports Academy is accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
