Alaska Pacific University

Alaska Pacific University was dedicated in the same year that Alaska was formally recognized as a state, in 1959. Since it first welcomed students in 1960, it has continued to provide highly individualized learning to its small student body. Despite its size, the university has been able to maintain excellence, in the academic field as well as in other pursuits.

The university offers a host of programs. More than the usual undergraduate and graduate degree programs, Alaska Pacific University also offers an early honors program, wherein high school students in their senior year can get a head start on their college education. They also have the RANA Distance Education Program, an online program, which allows an individual to obtain his undergraduate degree through online classes. The university offers majors ranging from education to business to the sciences.

Alaska Pacific University intentionally keeps its number of students small, which is in line with their mission. The student to faculty ratio is a mere 10 to 1, again supporting the university’s ideals with regard to personalized learning.

Incoming and existing students have the option to live within the campus premises or find off-campus housing. Students may avail of room and board. There are several residence halls inside the campus, as well as multi-bedroom duplex houses. All of the residence halls are equipped with basic amenities.

The estimated cost of attendance for a student living on-campus is about $31,180. This includes tuition and fees, room and board, and other expenses. The cost may vary if a student lives off-campus.

Alaska Pacific University offers three tours to help you get started on the admissions process. You may opt for Adventures in Alaska, the 10-day summer program for high school juniors; Semester Snapshot, the 3-day tour in the middle of a semester; and the Day Tour.
