Arizona State University
Arizona State University (ASU), located in the metropolitan city of Phoenix Arizona, is a unique institution due to its “One University in Many Places” approach that unifies four differentiated campuses into a single university. ASU’s four campuses are the Tempe campus, West Campus, Polytechnic campus, and Downtown Campus. Each campus’ focus is as follows:
• Tempe Campus – research and graduate education
• West Campus – interdisciplinary liberal arts education and professional programs that connect to the community
• Polytechnic campus – applied approach to professional and technological programs with emphasis on technical education
• Downtown Phoenix campus – programs with direct urban and public connection
Between the four campuses, ASU’s number of students is a whopping 67,082. Despite the huge student population size of classes remain manageable due to the good student faculty ratio of 9.8: to 1 for ASU Law School, which has earned reviews for being one of the top law schools in the United States, 16 to 1 for ASU Polytechnic , and 10 to 1 for Downtown Phoenix campuses. At ASU West student to faculty ratio is not as good at 21 to 1.
ASU offers numerous undergraduate degree programs to choose from with over 250 academic undergraduate programs and majors spread between the four campuses and 25 accredited online programs.
ASU is not an open admission university. The requirements for admissions to ASU are as follows:
• Application fee
• High School official transcripts
• ACT or SAT scores
• AP, IB and/or CLEP scores
• TOEFL scores (international students)
Tuition and fees vary according to each student’s academic program and campuses attended. Room and board costs vary depending on the residence hall and meal plan chosen. All students automatically get slots in residence halls although those who opt to live with their parents or guardians can do so.
