Arkansas State University
The Arkansas State University system is a collection of campuses located across northeast and central Arkansas. The first ASU campus was established in Jonesboro in 1909 and since then established other campuses/centers in Beebe, Searcy, Heber Springs, Jacksonville, Mountain Home, Newport, Marked Tree, and Paragould.
Arkansas State University (ASU) Main campus, located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, is the flagship campus of the Arkansas State University System. It is known for being the only comprehensive public university in the Arkansas Delta region.
The ASU Main Campus is a large university in terms of campus size (800 acres) as well as number of students (approximately 12,000 enrolled students). The student to faculty ratio at ASU Jonesboro is 18 to 1.
ASU Jonesboro is also very proud of it academic offerings with 36 degree programs in 168 undergraduate and graduate field of studies available. Overseeing the development of each academic program are the university’s 11 colleges and 12 units. ASU also offers 174 evening courses and as well as 218 online classes. The most popular majors in ASU Jonesboro include nursing, emergency medicine, and education.
ASU has a selective admissions policy. Aside from official high school or GED exam results, ASU requires that official ACT scores, SAT scores, and/or ASSET or COMPASS scores be mailed directly from the testing institution or high school. ASU’s test codes are 0116 for ACT and 6011 for SAT.
Tuition for undergrad ASU students is $163 per credit hour for Arkansas residents and $427 per credit hour for non-Arkansas residents. Room and board costs depend on the housing option as well as meal plan availed by the student.
