Biola University

More than a hundred years after its founding in 1908, Biola University stands committed to biblically-centered education, intentional spiritual development and vocational preparation. Lyman Stewart and T.C. Horton initiated the school then known as the Bible Institute. Its programs became a four-year course leading to degrees in Theology, Christian Education and Sacred Music. Under the leadership of Dr. Louis Talbot, the institute was eventually renamed as Biola College in 1949. The demands of the growing student body necessitated the purchase of a 75-acre site in the La Mirada in Southern California which remains up to now the location of the campus. Biola became a university in 1981.

Biola University is comprised of the Talbot School of Theology, the School of Intercultural Studies, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Education, the Rosemead School of Psychology, the School of Professional Studies, the School of Business and the Graduate School. Its campus rests on the borders of Orange and Los Angeles Counties. The tree-lined walkways lead to at least 40 major academic buildings including a state-of-the-art library, a combined athletic field-parking structure and a cutting-edge business building.
