Fielding Graduate University

Fielding Graduate University is a nonprofit postgraduate learning institution based in Santa Barbara, California, USA. The university was founded by Frederic Hudson, Hallock Hoffman, and Renata Tesch on March of 1974. Through distributed learning, which is most commonly referred to as distance education, the students make use of online campus, individual faculty-student mentoring and assessment and face to face meetings. It is geared towards providing highly specialized doctoral, master’s and distributed graduate level programs on psychology, organizational development and educational leadership.

The PhD in clinical psychology is the only distributed learning program accredited by the American Psychological Association. The university also offers the only online teaching certificate program that awards academic credits in the doctoral level. There are about 1,500 enrollees from diverse ethnicities.

The university is focused on three major disciplines. These are School of Educational Leadership Change, School of Human Organization and Development and School of Psychology. The School of Education Leadership Change aims to transform the educational and human services delivery through development of leaders. The School of Human Organization and Development is designed for professionals who want to become scholars and lifelong learners. It aims to enhance knowledge, improve research skills and a more reflective practice for their students. The School of Psychology presents diverse approaches to theories, research and practice. Under this discipline is the first and only PhD in Media Psychology in a graduate university.

Annual tuition and fees differ per degree in the different Schools. About 75% of students receive financial help.
