Golden Gate University

Golden Gate University (GGU) is a private, co-educational university located in downtown San Francisco. Established in 1901, GGU is primarily a post-graduate university which aims to make available to its students the most technologically advanced learning methods that will help them achieve their goals in their pursuit of a post-graduate degree.

Although its main campus is in San Francisco, GGU has satellite campuses in Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles from where its students, made up mostly of working professionals, can conveniently go to complete their programs. The university also has a CyberCampus which lets students work and study at their own convenient time via the Internet.

GGU offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in business, taxation, law, accounting, information technology and such other professions that are demanded in the 21st century workplace like psychology, health services management, human resources and public administration. With its students mostly commuters, the university has no on-campus housing available.

Cost of tuition at GGU is computed based on the total course cost which is three units per course for most except for Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) and doctoral courses which four units per course. For academic year 2009-2010, the per-course tuition for GGU is US$1,680 for all undergraduate courses and varies according to the chosen field of study for courses under the graduate program.

Financial aid for students comes in a variety of forms. There are grants and loans from the government as well as scholarships for deserving students from GGU and a special payment plan. Those who are employed can avail of employer tuition assistance.
