Lincoln University of Oakland California
Lincoln University is a private, non-profit university located in Oakland, California. Founded in 1919, the university traces its root to the establishment of a law study program in San Francisco by Benjamin Franklin Lickey and his wife Susan, for returning war veterans at the close of World War II. Lickey, who was then working as a representative of the Law Department of the La Salle Extension University in Chicago also offered evening classes to part-time students. The program later developed into a tutorial center with an expanded curriculum which, by 1927, began offering courses in law, commerce, foreign trade, and business administration and special courses and coaching in bar examination preparation, advertising, journalism, and public speaking.
A second campus was established in 1961 in San Jose to house the university’s law school programs. In 1993, the San Jose campus separated from the rest of the university and became the independent Lincoln Law School of San Jose. By 1999, the university in San Francisco moved to its current location in Oakland.
Today, Lincoln University continues ot offer both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. For its higher education students it grants Associate of Science in Diagnostic Imaging, Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration.
Cost of tuition at Lincoln University is US$345 per unit for undergraduate students and for graduate students, US$375 per unit for 300 to 400 level and US$450 per unit for 500 level. Students who want to live on campus pay additional charges at an estimated monthly cost of US900 for room and board, US$60 for transportaion and US$200 per semester for textbooks. Financial aid is extended to students in the form of loans, grants and scholarships.
