The Master’s Seminary
Under the leadership and vision of Dr. John MacArthur, The Master’s Seminary (TMS) opened in 1986. It was envisioned to be a place where seminary programs for the training of men for ministry in the local church context can be offered. Its foundation can be traced to the heritage of The Master’s College and the extension courses offered by Talbot Theological Seminary in the campus of Grace Community Church which was also pastored by Dr. MacArthur. The Seminary is located at 13248 Roscoe Boulevard, Sun Valley, California.
TMS is a non-denominational graduate school which offers programs leading to degrees in Master of Divinity, Bachelor of Theology, Diploma of Theology, Master of Theology, Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Theology. Annual cost for full-time tuition is about $ 8,960.00 or $ 280.00 per unit. Prospective students are encouraged to look into all possible means of financing seminary education such as on-campus and off-campus employment, home church assistance, outside ministry scholarships, TMS Grants and scholarships as well as personal and family assets.
The TMS facility features state-of-the-art classrooms which are strategically located on the campus of a dynamic church. A theological research library houses over 200,000 volumes for reference and study. Placement workshops are offered every fall and spring to prepare students for actual ministry life.
Campus visits are best done for several days instead of one especially for serious prospective students who need to make crucial decisions on which seminary to enter. Online seminary education is not specifically encouraged at TMS because of the absence of interaction with faculty and fellow students which is considered the formative power of the program. DVD classes can be arranged for students unable to attend on-site classes.
