Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts
Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts is an art college located in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Founded in 1976, the college is made up of a collection of young artists who like to draw, paint, and do sculpture. In fact, life as a student at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts revolves around activities in the studio and around its exceptionally beautiful campus that is situated just a few hours away from the cultural and artistic resources of New York and Boston.
In terms of programs of study, the academy offers three-year certificates, Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees and Bachelor of Arts degrees in such majors as Painting, Sculpture, and Illustration with all required liberal arts courses also offered on campus.
A total of 150 students are enrolled in Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts trained and mentored by fulltime faculty members, 79% of whom hold a doctorate or MFA in their chosen fields. With a student to faculty ratio of 14 to 1 and the average class size no more than 20 students, the college guarantees its students a highly individualized approach to learning and insures that each student has access to their teachers whenever they have questions or problems pertaining to their studies.
Cost of attendance for academic year 2009-2010 for fulltime students is US$35,642 broken down into tuition and fees of US$21,792, studio fee of US$1,000 and registration fee of US$300; room and board cost of US$8,550; transportation fee of US$2,000; books and art supplies at US$1,500 and miscellaneous fee of US$500. For part-time students, cost of tuition is US$22,496. Financial aid is extended to qualified students in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. On-campus housing is available for students.
