Standing on a historic piece of land along North DuPont Highway in Dover, Delaware, the Delaware State University has grown from its former 100-acre self-contained campus to the present 400-acre community-like complex that still houses its old historic buildings like the Loockerman Hall which was restored from the 1700s.

Delaware State University is a vibrant campus populated by 3,756 students, 81% full-time and 19% part-time and 205 faculty members within 20 academic departments. Some 160 of the faculty members possess a PhD or a terminal degree. Despite its large student population, Delaware State University is able to maintain a student-to-faculty ratio of 13 to 1, assuring students of focused instruction from their teachers.

The university offers 54 undergraduate degree programs, 23 Master’s degree programs and five Doctoral Degree programs in the areas of interdisciplinary applied mathematics/mathematical physics and educational leadership. The most popular undergraduate majors include Management, Nursing, Mass Communications, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sports Management, Agriculture, Accounting and Biology.

Tuition and Fees for students enrolling in the 2009-2010 academic year is US$6,841 for in-state full-time students plus an additional fee of US$6,114 for on-campus housing. Depending on the meal option the student chooses, there is an additional fee of US$3,000 plus for the student meal plan. For part-time in-state enrollees, the tuition fee is US$238.00 per credit hour plus a registration fee of US$50.00, technology fee of US$55.00, and a wellness fee of US$200.00. For in-state students taking up Doctorate and Graduate Studies, the fee is US$365.00 per credit hour, plus US$60.00 registration fee and US$55.00 for technology fee.

Financial aid in the form of scholarship grants, loans and campus employment are available to help students defray the cost of tuition and other fees.
