Howard University
Founded in the spring of 1867, Howard University is a historically black, private college with over 10,000 active students at its urban Washington, D.C. 250-acre campus. Accredited by the Middle States Association, Howard has a proud academic tradition with one of the top rated programs in African American studies, and has several well regarded faculty members including several Nobel Laureates and Rhodes Scholars.
Playing a crucial role in the Civil Rights Movement, the school of Law is one of the top regarded Civil Rights programs in the country. Howard also houses well respected School of Business, Divinity, Education and Social Work, as well as the Johnson School of Communications and the College of Health Sciences. With programs ranging from bachelor’s degrees to doctoral programs, Howard is considered one of the top research schools in the country led by its Moorland Spingham Research Center.
