Beacon College

Beacon College is a private college located in Leesburg, Florida. It was founded in 1989 and is specifically meant for the purpose of educating students with learning disabilities. The institution currently has just over a hundred students enrolled at the undergraduate level, with a low student to faculty ratio of just 8:1 and an average class size of ten.

Three different majors are offered to students of Beacon College. The computer information systems major contains two separate tracks: information systems and web and digital media. Associate’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees are available in each. Majors are also available in the areas of human services (with an optional minor in K-6 education) and liberal studies. Several travel abroad opportunities are available to students of Beacon College, and a number of student organizations are also present at the institution.

Beacon College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. SACS provides accreditation to institutions within an eleven-state area, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
