Chipola College

Chipola College is a community college in Marianna, Florida. It was originally founded in 1947 at the site of Marianna Army Air Force Base, though it became a public school soon thereafter and was moved to its current location, a 105-acre campus. 2,144 students were enrolled there as of 2007 at a student to faculty ratio of 16:1.

Chipola’s academic programs are centered on a few different areas of study. Within the field of education, bachelor’s degrees are available in the subjects of mathematics, science, biology, elementary and exceptional student education, some at both the middle school and secondary levels. Business degrees are offered in the subjects of supervision and management, general management and accounting. A nursing degree can be obtained, and other programs, like the Teacher Outreach Program or those offered at the Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) can also be pursued.

Chipola College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. SACS provides accreditation to institutions within an eleven-state area, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
