Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is a metropolitan university of higher education located on the highest of Tallahassee’s seven hills. Standing in the midst of a 422-acre campus noted for its lush green lawns and heavy oak trees, FAMU provides an atmosphere that encourages learning and deep thinking. Apart from its main campus at Tallahassee, FAMU also maintains satellite campuses in Orlando for its College of Law and in Miami, Jacksonville and Tampa for its Pharmacy Program.

FAMU offers its students bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various majors through its 13 schools and colleges and one institute. It also has doctoral programs in engineering, physics; pharmaceutical sciences; educational leadership; and environmental sciences. Its Orlando satellite campus offers a Juris Doctor degree at its College of Law.

There are 10,509 full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the FAMU and 1,339 part-time students. Although the college was historically a Black school of higher education, it now welcomes students of all races, ethnic origins and nationalities. To date, in addition to its students from the United States, the university has enrolled students from 70 countries like India, Egypt, China, Jamaica, Brazil, the Netherlands and others.

Cost of admission to the university for resident students is US$124.01 per credit hour for undergraduate programs, US$268.23 per credit hour for graduate programs and US$288.75 for law students. For non-resident students, cost of admission per credit hour is US$522.03 for undergraduates, US$884.75 for graduate students, and US$943.43 for law students. These costs do not include the other standard fees as well as the average room rental cost of US$2,025.47 per semester. Financial aid is extended to students in the form of loans, grants, merit-based scholarships and student employment.
