Northwood University of Miami

Northwood University of Miami, Florida, is part of a network of campuses that was originally founded in Alma, Michigan in the early 1960s. Texas and Florida campuses were added in the years that followed. The Florida branch is a private institution that currently enrolls some eight hundred students, instructed at a student to faculty of 20:1.

Northwood University of Miami offers just under a dozen undergraduate programs, all of them bachelor’s degrees and the majority of them dual major programs. There are only two single major degrees, offered in accounting and management. Dual major degrees are offered in the subjects of advertising & marketing, aftermarket management, automotive marketing, banking & finance, entertainment, sport & promotion management, entrepreneurship, hotel, restaurant & resort management, international business and marketing (all of these majors are accompanied by a separate general major in management).

Northwood University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Higher Learning Commission is one of two separate commissions within the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), a regional accrediting agency that is recognized by the United States Department of Education as well as the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The association was originally founded in 1895, and the Higher Learning Commission is currently responsible for the accreditation of over one thousand schools within a nineteen state area.
