University of North Florida

The University of North Florida is a public institution located in Jacksonville, Florida. It was established in 1972. It has expanded from its original 1000-acre donated campus to its current 1,300-acre campus and has added new buildings and schools over the years. Today, there are over 15,000 students at UNF and there are 558 faculty members.

Academic programs at the University of Florida offer undergraduate and graduate degrees from the colleges of health, business, the arts and sciences, education and human services, and computing, engineering and construction. There are fifty-eight undergraduate (bachelor) degrees in total, with some noteworthy examples being statistics, marketing, computer & information sciences and political science. There are twenty-eight graduate and doctoral programs available to UNF students, with master’s degrees provided in areas such as English, general psychology and business administration, plus doctorates in educational leadership, nursing practice and physical therapy. Various certifications may also be obtained in business or education-related fields. A United States Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program is available to UNF students.

The University of North Florida is accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. SACS provides accreditation to institutions within an eleven-state area, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
