University of Tampa
The University of Tampa began as Tampa Junior College, which was operating on the premises of the local high school. In 1933, the College evolved into a University and moved to its current location, formerly the Tampa Bay Hotel. Today, the University sits on approximately 100 acres in Tampa, where around 5,800 students are instructed at a low student to faculty ratio of just 15:1.
Academic programs at the University of Tampa provide degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In total, well over one hundred majors and minors can be selected. Graduate students may obtain master’s degrees in teaching, education, business administration, accounting, finance, marketing, nursing and innovation management (the institution’s MBA program is one of the largest in the state of Florida). A separate certificate in nonprofit management is also available. Some other examples of popular majors would be management, communication, marketing, international business, psychology, biology, criminology, nursing, finance and accounting. A United States Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program is available to students of the University of Tampa.
