Art Institute of Atlanta
The Art Institute of Atlanta is a private institution that was founded in 1949 in Atlanta under the name of Massey Business College. Over the years, it has expanded from its Atlanta and Decatur locations to satellite campuses Charleston, Tennesse-Nashville and Washington. The Atlanta campus is seven acres in size, with an enrollment of around 3,187 and a student to faculty ratio of 22:1.
Academic programs at the Art Institute of Atlanta include courses in six different areas of study: culinary, design, fashion, media arts, general education and art foundation. Three associate’s degrees, two bachelor’s degrees and two diplomas are available to students of culinary. Four bachelor’s degrees, three diplomas and an associate’s degree in graphic design are available to design students. Fashion students may pursue a single bachelor’s degree in fashion and retail management. Students of the media arts can choose from a total of three diplomas, three associate degrees and eight bachelor’s degrees. Evening classes are also available to students of AI.
The Art Institute of Atlanta is accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. SACS provides accreditation to institutions within an eleven-state area, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
