Georgia Gwinnett College
Georgia Gwinnett College or GGC is a fully accredited public college that offers four-year courses to students who are eager to develop their skills in a 21st century atmosphere where learning happens every moment and not just within the confines of the traditional classroom. By using technology-based teaching methods such as DVD players and recorders in combination with traditional textbooks, students are given more opportunities to understand and retain lecture content.
The college offers degree programs in three major fields of study; namely, business, biology, information technology and psychology. Plans are afoot to include degrees in other in-demand courses like nursing, education, and radiology and majors in subjects like Math, English, history, criminology, political science and exercise science.
Cost of tuition per credit hour at Georgia Gwinnett College is US$100 for in-state students and US$400 for out-of-state students. These are in addition to regular student fees. Students who pass admission requirements do so without being asked whether they have the capacity to pay for their cost of admission. This is why financial aid is available to qualified students by way of loans, scholarships and grants or a combination of these.
There is currently no available on-campus housing for students at the college. However, come August 2010, the first phase of the brand new Georgia Gwinnett residential halls will be opened for use. These halls will be done in the suite-style housing design representative of 21st century college residential hall architecture. A total of 1,029 beds will be available to students under Phase 1 of the on-campus housing development. An additional 1,500 beds plus a parking deck will be included in the second phase.
