LaGrange College
LaGrange College is a private, four-year, coeducational liberal arts college located in LaGrange, Georgia. The oldest private college in Georgia, it was founded in 1831 as the all-female educational institution, LaGrange Female Academy, housed in a building across the street from where the current campus now stands. It moved to its current location in 1842 and became LaGrange College in 1934. Officially, the school started accepting male students and became coeducational in 1953.
Today, LaGrange maintains its strong Methodist ties, and offers undergraduate, graduate and evening classes to its students. As a liberal arts college, LaGrange offers a basic core curriculum of comprehensive arts and science subjects that prepare students for their eventual choice of a specific major field of specialization. The students are given the widest range of general subjects that allow them to acquire a well-rounded education before entering into the professional phase of their studies.
For its graduate program, the college offers Specialist in Education (Ed.S.), Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (Med) plus a course on Organizational Leadership held one night a week for four hours
for 18 months at the college’s satellite campus in Albany.
