Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing
Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing (BRCN) began its educational mission in 1891 when it first accepted pupils as the Blessing Training School for Nurses. It offered a 2-year training program which became a 3-year diploma program in 1904. The four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing diploma was finally offered in 1985. The MSN Degree was added in 2007.
The Bachelor’s Degree is offered through two joint programs with its partners – the Culver-Stockton College and the Quincy University. All clinical and nursing courses are taken at BRCN while the two partners handle the general education courses. A typical nursing student will spend much of his/her freshman and sophomore year in the partner-school’s campuses while most of the junior and senior years are spent at BRCN. It is located on the campus of Blessing Hospital which in turn serves as the primary site for student clinical nursing experience.
BRCN is located at 11th and Oak in Quincy, Illinois on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River in the western part of the state. Culver-Stockton College can be found approximately 20 miles away on Canton, Missouri while Quincy University is also situated in Quincy, Illinois. The Bachelor Graduation diplomas are jointly signed by Blessing-Rieman and the chosen partner school.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is a four-year college degree with a major in nursing. The tuition fee is based on full-time enrolment which is equivalent to 12 to 18 credit hours per semester. Annual tuition is $ 16,275.00 both for junior and senior years. Other related costs include clinical course fees, textbooks, room and board. Online courses are offered to fit in students’ busy schedules to enable them to earn college credits.
