Governor State University
Governor State University (GSU) is a public university located in a 750-acre campus in University Park, Illinois. Founded in 1969, GSU was initially envisioned to be the first “university without walls” with a curriculum that veered away from the traditional methods of teaching.
Today, it has evolved into a more traditional university offering its students Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in a variety of majors through its four distinguished Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Public Administration, Education, and Health and Human Services. It also provides them with Certificate programs on various fields of study. To insure that all students interested to pursue higher education at GSU are able to do so, the university maintains an online degree program that allows them to complete their degrees via the Internet.

For academic year 2009-2010, the cost of tuition for full-time undergraduate students is US$224 per credit hour for Illinois residents and US$560 per credit hour for non-Illinois residents. Tuition cost for Master of Occupational Therapy is US$343 per credit hour for Illinois residents and US$981 per credit hour for non-Illinois residents. For all other Master’s degree programs, the cost is US$245 per credit hour for Illinois residents and US$675 per credit hour for non-Illinois residents. Doctorate degrees in Nursing Practice and Occupational Therapy each cost US$578 per credit hour for Illinois residents and US$900 per credit hour for non-Illinois residents.
Financial assistance is extended to qualified students by way of grants/scholarships, loans, work, and tuition waivers.
Governors State University is essentially a commuter campus and therefore has no on-campus housing for students.
