Hebrew Theological College
The Hebrew Theological College (HTC) is a private Jewish university with the primary aim of preparing students for their eventual assumption to their role as educators or simply to train students to meet the requirements and demands of rabbinic ordination. In addition to this, it also aims to provide them with a strong liberal arts and sciences core foundation that will allow them to incorporate basic and general knowledge with their Jewish traditions and learnings thus preparing them for their pursuit of advanced professional training.
Founded in 1921 in the west side of Chicago, the college moved to its current location in Skokie, Illinois in 1958. The main focus of HTC is to teach the Torah and Jewish traditions. As a Jewish institution of higher education in America, HTC caters to students from various Jewish backgrounds.
The Yeshiva or institution for the study of the Torah is divided into the Beis Midrash or Rabbinical School, the Bellows Kollel, the Blistein Teachers Institute for Women, and the Fasman Yeshiva High School.
