Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg
Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg was a satellite location of what was formerly known as the Commercial Art School founded in 1916. The school changed its name twice as the Ray-Vogue School during the 1930s and the Ray College of Design in 1981. Its campus in Schaumburg was established in 1983. When it joined the Art Institutes system in 1995, the school became formally known as the Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg. It is located at 1000 Plaza Drive, Suite 100, Schaumburg, Illinois.
As an institution of higher education, Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg offers degrees and other academic programs in the creative and applied arts. Applicants for admission must be high school graduates or hold a General Educational Development (GED) Certificate. It is also a requirement to submit a 30-word essay expressing what the students expect to accomplish while studying at the institute. Advanced placement may be considered pending the evaluation of portfolios in previous education.
The tuition per academic year consisting of three quarters is approximately $ 22,512.00 based on 16 credits per quarter. Financial aid is available but is largely based on individual economic circumstances. However, the Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg offers at least 2 institutional scholarship programs based on grade point average.
Academic programs and curriculums are offered in Design, Fashion, Media Arts and General Education. The evening and weekend option has been made available specifically to provide working adults the opportunity to attain a degree by taking up to four classes per quarter. Some of the programs offered through this flexible schedule are the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design, Web Design and Interactive Media, Media Arts and Animation, Interior Design or Game Art and Design.
Student housing is mainly provided by two apartment complexes leased by the institute. Parking is made available free of charge to students, employees and visitors. Appropriate accommodations can be arranged for qualified students with disabilities.
