Institute for Clinical Social Work – ICSW
The Institute for Clinical Social Work (ICSW) is an institution of higher learning established in 1981 for the purpose of advancing knowledge and practice in the field of clinical social work. It offers a premier doctoral program specifically designed for practicing clinicians. It is located at 200 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 407, Chicago, Illinois.
Handling ICSW’s programs leading to the Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work are faculty members composed of social work clinicians, educators and researchers in the area of Chicago. Each faculty member brings his/her expertise as well as personal contributions to the classroom experience of students. Comprising the faculty are the core faculty, regular faculty, visiting professors and visiting lecturers numbering more than 40 in all.
ICSW has presently 90 students attending its various programs falling under three main types: the Ph.D. Program, the Advanced Clinical Practice Program (ACP) and Professional Enrichment Program. The Ph.D. Program is a four-year doctoral program that offers a full-time course of study without interrupting the students’ clinical employment. Classes are held on Friday afternoons and all day Saturday on alternating weekends from the months of September to December and January to June. Its curriculum is organized into the Clinical Sequence, Research Sequence and the Conceptual Foundations Sequence.
The ACP Program requires three years of course work and a clinical practicum. Its curriculum is made up of eighteen core courses organized in the Clinical Practice Sequence and the Psychodynamic Theory Sequence. Professional Enrichment Programs consist of workshops, lectures, seminars, conferences and courses offered both to those new to the clinical practice as well as highly experienced clinicians. The Institute for Clinical Social Work Programs are offered through the on-site and online formats. Full-time tuition is $ 15,876.00 per year while part-time tuition is $ 900.00 per credit hour. Distance Learning tuition amounts to $ 16,876.00 per year inclusive of the $ 1,000 Technology Fee. Tuition for ACP Programs is $ 7,115.00 per year.
