Knox College
Knox College is a private, coeducational liberal arts college located in Galesburg, Illinois. Founded in 1837 by anti-slavery reformers, the college today continues to uphold its tradition of accepting students who are independent thinkers, who believe in equality, and who respect others’ views.
Knox College offers a wide-range of programs normally available only in big universities. It offers over 60 courses of study including 39 majors and 51 minors as well as pre-professional and cooperative programs in humanities, arts, sciences, and social sciences. Students who can’t quite fit into any program are given the free hand to design his or her own major.
Currently, there are around 1,382 students enrolled at Knox College coming from 47 states and 48 other countries. These students are guided in their studies by 101 full-time faculty members, 98% of whom hold a Ph.D. or the highest degree possible in their chosen field of specialization. With a student to faculty ratio of 12 to 1 and the average class size no bigger than 18, students of Knox enjoy close interaction with their professors who are able to give them time and attention whenever they need to resolve anything pertaining to their studies.
Cost of attending Knox College for academic year 2009-2010 is US$39,075 for regular, fulltime undergraduate students. This cost includes full-year tuition of US$31,575, room and board charge of US$7,164 and the required activity fee of US$336. Financial aid in the form of loans, grants, scholarships and campus employment is extended to students to help them in paying for their cost of attendance.
