The Chicago School of Professional Psychology
Located in Chicago in the state of Illinois, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is a private, graduate school of psychology founded by psychlogists in 1979 with a $4.4 million endowment from the Midwestern Psychology Development Foundation. Its objective is to educate and train psychologists in a “not-for-profit” setting.
With an enrollment of nearly 2,000 students, it ranks as the country’s number one nonprofit graduate school for the training of professional psychologists.
The Chicago School of Professional Psychology operates in five other campuses located in Illinois and California where it confers master’s, doctorate, licensure and certification in areas of study ranging from Applied Forensic Psychology Services to Clinical Forensic Psychology, from Clinical Psychology (Marital and Family Therapy Specialization) to Industrial & Organizational Psychology, from International Psychology to Prenatal & Perinatal Psychology, and from Somatic Psychology to School Psychology.
Its also confers online degrees including M.A. in Applied Forensic Psychology, M.A. in Applied Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and M.A. in Psychology (with specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychology, International Psychology, Gerontology, Psychology Generalist, Organizational Leadership, Media and Consumer Psychology and Career Counseling).
Academic costs effective August 2009 include tuition of $1070 per credit hour for Psy.D./Ph.D. programs; M.A. programs – $855 per credit hour; Ed.S. program – $885 per credit hour; Psy.D. Internship (per semester) – $650; Clinical Psy.D. Clerkship Fee (per course) – $210. Fees include full-time student institutional services fee (per term) of $630 and other mandatory and miscellaneous fees.
The school was authorized to grant degrees in 1980 by the Illinois Board of Higher Education. In 1984, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredited it followed by the accreditation from the American Psychological Association in 1987. It is a full member of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology.
