Indiana Institute of Technology
From its modest beginnings as the Indiana Technical College, Indiana Institute of Technology has become a four-year, coeducational residential university that offers degree programs in business, engineering, criminal science and computer studies. It was founded in 1930 and originally held its classes in a former mortuary in East Washington Boulevard. It eventually moved to a new site which is also within the same area and is presently located at 1600 East Washington Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Indiana Institute of Technology at Fort Wayne is the main campus which occupies approximately 40 acres of property. It has added about 15 acres since 1998 and continues to acquire additional land as it becomes available. The university’s College of Professional Studies has satellite campuses located in Indianapolis, Elkhart and other sites in north and central Indiana. There are more than 3,000 students enrolled in its various programs. The average class size is 19 while student/faculty ratio is 19:1.
Degree programs offered include Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Science, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Management, Master of Science in Engineering Management and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. Programs are delivered in multiple formats: traditional, accelerated, online and independent study. Traditional classes are held during the day multiple times each week for 15-week semesters. Accelerated programs require students to attend evening or weekend classes once a week for 5 to 6 weeks. Online classes also span about 5 to 6 weeks while independent study programs are self-paced.
Tuition cost per year is $ 21,080.00. Annual room and meal plans range from $ 8,040.00 to $ 9,120.00. Included in the tuition rate is an annual textbook rental fee. Students have the option to keep the books and be billed at the end of each semester. Tuition for online classes is $ 355.00 and $ 465.00 per credit for undergraduate and graduate programs, respectively.
