Marian College
Borne out of the dedication of Sister Theresa Hackelmeier and the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Marian College is a Catholic university that seeks to transform lives through education. Students of all faiths are welcome to join its academic community. Originally based in Oldenburg, Indiana in 1936, it transferred to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1937, specifically at 3200 Cold Spring Road, Indianapolis, Indiana. It achieved university status in 2009.
The academic programs offered by Marian University lead to 8 associate, 43 bachelor’s and 1 master’s degrees. There are 36 majors, 31 minors and 35 concentrations plus 2 certification programs that provide the students a wide variety of educational and career choices. The largest programs consist of the Education, Business and Nursing Programs.
Over 2,000 students, including both full-time and part-time, have chosen to enroll in the university’s programs. With 81 full-time professors, the student/faculty ratio is 17:1. A more personalized instruction environment is made possible through small class sizes.
From its beginnings as the St. Francis Normal which operated as a teacher training school that served the educational requirements of the German-Catholic residents of Southern Indiana, Marian University has consistently sought to provide wider educational opportunities to the community. Its Adult Program which serves both traditional and non-traditional students is seen as a natural extension of the university’s mission.
Estimated annual cost for full-time students amounts to $ 32,712.00 inclusive of tuition and fess, room and board and books. Part-time students are charged $ 1,050.00 per credit hour for regular programs or $ 310.00 per credit hour fro Adult Programs.
