Students will have the chance to pass through Buena Vista University’s Victory Arch twice in their entire university career. It happens first on Founder’s Day as a new student and a second time during the commencement ceremony. This practice signifies the university’s commitment to its students from start to finish. Buena Vista University occupies a beautiful 60-acre campus along the north shores of Storm Lake in Iowa.
The five academic schools of Buena Vista consisting of the School of Business, the School of Communication and Arts, the School of Education and Exercise Science, the School of Social Science and the School of Philosophy and Religion, collectively offers more than 43 majors and 15 pre-professional programs. General education requirements include computer literacy; communication proficiency; 1-3 courses of Mathematics; 3 credit hours of Fine Arts; and 9 credit hours each of Humanities, Science and Social Science; first-year seminar; interim; and the academic and cultural events series. Students are provided their own laptop computers to improve their learning efficiency. A minimum of 128 credit hours is a prerequisite for graduation.
Full-time educational cost is $ 25,540.00 per year for tuition plus the standard room and board rate of $ 7,292.00. Additional expenses for books, travel and personal expense is estimated at $ 2,500.00. The option to “lock-in” tuition rate for four years is offered to all incoming students of Buena Vista University through the Level Tuition Plan. In exchange for an initial fee, a student can be protected from tuition increases over the course of their program. The plan does not apply to other expenses such as room and board.
