Grand View University

Grand View University is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in Des Moines, Iowa. Founded in 1896, Grand View is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is driven by its mission to “engage, equip, and empower students to fulfill their ambitions and to serve society.”

There are around 2,000 students enrolled today in Grand View University mentored by 88 full-time and 85 part-time faculty members. Around 40% of these teachers hold the highest degree possible in their chosen fields of study. All classes are handled by professors and never by teaching assistants. With a student to faculty ratio of 15 to 1, students are assured that their professors will always have time to talk to them about problems they may be encountering regarding their chosen course of study.
The university offers bachelor’s degrees in 36 majors, 7 certificate programs, 2 post-baccalaureate certificates and 5 pre-professional preparation programs.
Cost of attendance at the university for academic year 2009-2010 is US$18,944 for full-time day students. For part-time students, the cost is US$485 per credit hour. Students who want to attend evening or weekend classes pay tuition of US$285 per credit hour. For graduate courses, the rate is US$465 per credit hour. These rates refer only to cost of tuition and do not include the regular fees and the additional charges for parking and room and board which may vary depending on the housing facility chosen.

As a form of assistance to students in settling their cost of attendance, the university extends financial aid in the form of scholarships, loans, grants and work programs.

On campus housing is availabe for students who are interested to live within the campus rather than commute.
